What we collect
nezen.io collects only what is necessary to deliver your daily zen story:
- Email address — if you subscribe to daily stories or create an account via email.
- Phone number — if you subscribe via WhatsApp.
- Name and profile image — if you sign in with Google, as provided by Google.
- Reflections — text you voluntarily write in response to stories.
- Favourites — stories you choose to save.
How we use it
- To send you the daily story (via email or WhatsApp, based on your subscription).
- To save your reflections and favourites to your account.
- To display public reflections to other users (only if you choose to make a reflection public).
We do not sell, share, or trade your personal data with third parties. We do not serve advertisements. We do not track you across the web.
Third-party services
- Resend — to deliver emails. Your email address is shared with Resend solely for email delivery. Their privacy policy.
- Google OAuth — if you sign in with Google. We receive your name, email, and profile image. We do not access any other Google data.
- WhatsApp (Meta) — if you subscribe via WhatsApp. Messages are processed through Meta's WhatsApp Business API. Their privacy policy.
Data storage
Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database on a server hosted in Europe (Hetzner, Germany). Data is not transferred outside the EU unless required by a third-party service (e.g., WhatsApp message delivery).
Cookies
We use a single session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use analytics cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party cookies.
Your rights
You can at any time:
- Unsubscribe — via the link in any email, by sending "stop" on WhatsApp, or in your account settings.
- Delete your account — in your account settings under "Danger zone". This permanently removes all your data including reflections, favourites, and subscription.
- Export your data — contact us for a copy of your data.
Children
nezen.io is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
